Minutes

March 31, 2009

Present:            Davis, Kuzelka, and Lueders.  Guests Joseph G. Parker and Kent Preston.

Lueders, in place of Trimm who was not present at the start of the meeting, made the Call to Order and advised everyone that the group was meeting pursuant to section 84-1412(8) of the Open Meetings Act.

Motion to Convene:      Davis made the motion to convene, seconded by Kuzelka. All voted Aye.

Davis made the motion, seconded by Kuzelka to approve the minutes of the March 3rd meeting of the Public Works Committee.

Discussion took place regarding the suggestion to place a 4-Way stop at the corner of 7th and E Streets.  Kuzelka stated he was not in favor of a 4-Way stop, but did not oppose it. Discussion continued as to whether parking stalls should be removed along 7th Street to allow for better vision, but that the sign may not do much to lower the speed of the traffic. Kuzelka suggested that a 4-Way sign be placed in the middle of the intersection. Don Trimm joined the meeting at approximately 6:44 p.m. Mr. Trimm stated that he has received complaints concerning the intersection.  Kent Preston added that this method had been used in previous years, and did not work well. It was noted that “high profile” vehicles were not to park near the intersection and impact the vision of motorists. Trimm noted that the Casey’s Manager felt it was about time for a 4-Way stop to be placed in the intersection.

Davis made the motion, seconded by Trimm, to move this matter to full City Council for their consideration. All members voted Aye.

Consideration of and recommendation on the Maintenance/Management Agreement between the City of Fairbury and the Softball Association was next considered. After discussion it was moved by Davis, seconded by Kuzelka to move this matter to full Council for its consideration.  All voted Aye.

Motion to Adjourn by Davis, seconded by Kuzelka, all voted Aye.

Meeting adjourned.
