FAIRBURY  PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE

MINUTES

June 7th, 2011

6:30 p.m.

 

 

Chairperson Polson made the statement regarding the Open Meetings Act as required by statute.

 

1.     Chairperson Tim Polson called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and asked for roll call. Other members present were: Joshua Vossler and Brad Kuzelka.

 

2.     Next, was the motion to convene.  Member Kuzelka made the motion to convene.  Member Vossler seconded the motion.  All members voted “Ai” - (Polson, Vossler and Kuzelka) / 0 - "nay". The motion passed.

 

3.     Next, was the motion to approve the minutes of May 17th, 2011.  Member Kuzelka made the motion to approve the minutes.  Member Vossler seconded the motion.  All members voted “Ai” -  (Kuzelka, Vossler and Polson) / 0 - "nay". The motion passed.

 

4.      Next, was Discussion and recommendation regarding a request from Torrick Friels to hold a Volunteer Fire department softball tournament/beer garden benefit on July 23 - 24, 2011 at the softball complex.

       

Torrick Friels was present and explained that he would like to hold a softball tournament benefit for the fire department to help supply smoke detectors the will be handed out to the public by the girl scouts.  There was some concern about the beer garden being hosted by city employees (fire department volunteers) on city property and liability issues so it was decided that instead of a beer garden they would have a cookout in the parking lot located north of the recycle building during the tournament.  Member Polson made the motion to recommend the city council approve the request to hold a Volunteer Fire department softball tournament and cookout benefit on July 23 - 24, 2011 at the softball complex and in the parking lot to the north of the recycle center.  Member Vossler seconded the motion.  By roll call, the vote 3 - "yes" (Vossler, Kuzelka and Polson) / 0 - "no". The motion passed. 

5.      With no further discussion and no comments from the public on non-agenda items, member Kuzelka made the motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Vossler seconded the motion. All members voted “Ai” -  (Vossler, Kuzelka and Polson) / 0 - "nay". The motion passed.  Member Polson declared the meeting adjourned at 6:44 pm.
