Regular Meeting
December 20, 2007
The
Mayor and Council of the City of Fairbury met in special session in the
Council Chambers located at 612 D Street, Fairbury, Nebraska, on the 20th
day of December, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. Mayor LaVeda L. Fry called the meeting
to order.
Notice
of meeting was given in advance thereof by publication in the Fairbury
Journal News, Fairbury, Nebraska, the designated method of giving notice, as
shown by affidavit of publication. The Open Meetings Act was posted in the
meeting room as required by law.
Roll
call found the following Council Members present: Brown, Friesen, Byrd,
Trimm, Nelson, Bender, and Polson. Also present were City Administrator Jim
Ferneau, City Clerk Tami Dandliker, City Attorney Tobias Tempelmeyer, Fire
Chief Eric Voss, Dave Taladay and John Trouba with the Southeast Nebraska
Development District, and citizens Janice Pfingsten, Kathy Cline, Fred
Arnold, Stan Smith, Lloyd Garber, Kay Pavlicek, Jamie Swanda, Kenny Krause,
and Ray Hinks.
Mayor
Fry opened the public hearing to re-evaluate the 2004 Fairbury Community
Needs Assessment Study and to identify new community issues to be addressed
within the assessment. Taladay and Trouba lead discussion on community
needs, identifying positive community events and accomplishments,
opportunities within the community, potential threats to the community, and
community priorities to be addressed. Local service organizations were
listed by the Council and citizens. Mayor Fry declared the hearing closed.
Taladay
and Trouba stated they would be preparing a complete report of items
discussed and statements made during the public hearing.
Bender
left the meeting at 7:32 p.m.
Byrd
made a motion to adjourn. Motion seconded by Nelson. On roll call, Brown,
Friesen, Byrd, Trimm, Nelson, and Polson voted “yes.” Meeting adjourned at
7:58 p.m.
