CITY OF FAIRBURY, NEBRASKA

COUNCIL AGENDA              

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2009, 7:30 p.m.

 

All agenda items are for discussion and action will be taken as deemed appropriate.  The City Council reserves the right to go into executive session in accordance with Section 84-1410.

 


 

A.     CALL TO ORDER

1.      Pursuant to Section 84-1412(8) of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the entry of this meeting room and is available for viewing by the public.

B.    SUBMITTAL OF REQUESTS FOR FUTURE ITEMS

Individuals who have appropriate items for City Council consideration should complete the Request for Future Agenda Items form located near the entrance of the meeting room.  If the issue can be handled administratively without Council action, notification will be provided.  If the item is scheduled for a committee or Council meeting, notification of the date will be given.

 

C.    CONSENT AGENDA

1.      Approval of the minutes of the regular meeting of March 17, 2009.

2.      Approval of claims.

3.      Approval of the appointment of Tony Likens to the Economic Development Review Committee.

 

D.    PUBLIC HEARINGS

1.  Set Public Hearing for Final Application for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

 

E.     CURRENT BUSINESS

1.      Discussion and consideration of marketing for distribution of pre-application materials for the Potential Citywide Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program.

2.      Discussion and consideration of building a final application for assistance for the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and Potential Demolition Programs.

3.      Consideration of participation in Joint Purchasing/Grant Program for the Early Warning Systems ~ 75% match from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, Economic Development Administration and 25% local match; and authorizing Mayor Ward to sign letter of commitment.

4.      Presentation by Blobaum & Busboom, P.C. of fiscal year 2007-2008 audit.

5.      Consideration of request from Gloria Poteet regarding garbage service charges.

6.      Consideration of recommendation from Public Works on Maintenance/Management Agreement between the City of Fairbury and the Fairbury Area Softball Association.  Term of agreement October 1, 2008 – October 1, 2011.

7.   Consideration of changes to Street Improvement Project No. 2008-2 ~ which is 17th & F Street.

8.   Consideration of request from the City Street Superintendent to purchase a used double drum roller to be utilized for asphalt patching finishing.

9.   Consideration of purchasing a blighted property located at 411 A Steet.

10. Approval and awarding of demolition bids for 319 A Street, legally described as Lot 2 of Re-Survey of Lots 13, 14, & 15 of Nutting's Subdivision of the City of Fairbury, in the County of Jefferson, and State of Nebraska.

11. Consideration of request for approval to have a Hazardous Waste Collection on April 18, 2009.

12. Consideration of request from Janet Ahl/Central School to place

      barricades by the Fun Park on April 27, 2009.

 

F.     RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES

1.      Resolution No. 719 providing for the placement of stop signs (four way stops at 7th & E  Streets) within the municipality’s jurisdiction and repealing any resolutions in conflict herewith.

     2.  Resolution No. 720 ratifying and confirming the acceptance of the bid for the

         construction of improvements in Street Improvement District No. 2008-1 and Street

         Improvement Project No. 2008-2.
