CITY OF FAIRBURY, NEBRASKA

COUNCIL AGENDA

 

TUESDAY, MARCH 4, 2008, 7:30 p.m.

 

All agenda items are for discussion and action will be taken as deemed appropriate.  The City Council reserves the right to go into executive session in accordance with Section 84-1410.

 


 

A.     CALL TO ORDER

1.      Pursuant to Section 84-1412(8) of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the entry of this meeting room and is available for viewing by the public.

2.      Roll Call

 

B.    SUBMITTAL OF REQUESTS FOR FUTURE ITEMS

Individuals who have appropriate items for City Council consideration should complete the Request for Future Agenda Items form located near the entrance of the meeting room.  If the issue can be handled administratively without Council action, notification will be provided.  If the item is scheduled for a committee or Council meeting, notification of the date will be given.

 

C.    CONSENT AGENDA

1.      Approval of the minutes of the regular meeting of February 19, 2008.

2.      Approval of claims.

 

D.    CURRENT BUSINESS

1.      Distribution and discussion of housing inspection plan, based on the International Property Maintenance Code and recommendation from the Housing Committee.

2.      Presentation by John Trouba of SENDD on the re-evaluation of the 2004 Fairbury Community Needs Assessment Study.

3.      Presentation by Connie Schwartz--Community Resource Coordinator with AmeriCorps/VISTA. Request for closure of G Street between 5th & 6th Streets on March 28, 2008.

4.      Request for Street Department to purchase disc blade for paving cuts.

5.      Discussion and consideration of requesting the county commissioners to review the industrial zoning designation for Lot 1 of Prairie Dog Subdivision, occupied by Runza.

6.      Police Department 2007 Annual Report.

7.      Set City-Wide Cleanup for week of April 21 – 25, 2008.


 

 

E.     RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES

1.      Resolution No. 681 to adopt the policy prohibiting excessive use of force against non-violent civil rights demonstrators.

2.      Resolution No. 682  to adopt a policy opposing discrimination in the acquisition, ownership, possession or enjoyment of housing; to assist aggrieved persons in filing  complaints by providing certain information.

3.      Third Reading  Ordinance No. 2972:  AN ORDINANCE TO ADD DIVISION ENTITLED “TELECOMMUNICATION OCCUPATION TAX” AND SECTIONS 110.08, 110.09, 110.10, 110.11, 110.12, 110.13, 110.14, and 110.15 OF THE FAIRBURY CITY CODE, TO REPEAL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND TO PROVIDE FOR PUBLICATION IN PAMPHLET FORM AND FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ORDINANCE
