COUNCIL AGENDA

 

Tuesday, December 4, 2007, 7:30 p.m.

 

All agenda items are for discussion and action will be taken as deemed appropriate.  The City Council reserves the right to go into executive session in accordance with Section 84-1410.

 


 

A.     CALL TO ORDER

1.      Pursuant to Section 84-1412(8) of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the entry of this meeting room and is available for viewing by the public.

2.      Roll Call

B.    SUBMITTAL OF REQUESTS FOR FUTURE ITEMS

Individuals who have appropriate items for City Council consideration should complete the Request for Future Agenda Items form located on the bulletin board.  If the issue can be handled administratively without Council action, notification will be provided.  If the item is scheduled for a committee or Council meeting, notification of the date will be given.

 

C.    CONSENT AGENDA

1.      Approval of the minutes of the regular meeting of November 6, 2007.

2.      Approval of the minutes of the regular meeting of November 20, 2007.

3.      Approval of claims retroactive to November 20, 2007.

4.      Approval of claims for December 4, 2007.

5.      Approval of the October 2007 Reconciliation Report.

6.      Approval of the reappointment of Larry Naiman, Tim Fuentez, and Pam Schroeder to the Tree Board, terms to expire January 2009.

7.      Approval of the appointment of Mick Hynek to the Tree Board, term to expire January 2009.

8.      Approval of the appointment of Paul Schramm to the Airport Authority Board, term to expire December 2008.


 

D.    PUBLIC HEARINGS

1.      Set Public Hearing concerning an Economic Development funding application submitted by Attitudes Apparel and the review/final obligation of funding said application.

2.      Set Public Hearing to re-evaluate the 2004 Fairbury Community Needs Assessment Study and identify new community issues to be addressed within the assessment.

3.      Reschedule Public Hearing concerning an Application for Change of Land Use Classification (CLZ-2007-002) as submitted by Richard D. Allen for a 13.17’ extension of existing B3 – Highway Commercial zoning district.

4.      Set Public Hearing concerning an Application submitted to the Liquor Control Commission by Paul I. Juhl, dba Tooley’s Lounge, for a Catering License.

 

E.     CURRENT BUSINESS

1.      Presentation of the LB840 Economic Development Review Committee’s recommendation on an application submitted by Attitudes Apparel for funding of new HVAC system.

2.      Consideration of a contract with Tobias Tempelmeyer for City Attorney services.

3.      Consideration of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for City Engineer.

4.      Discussion of current snorkel truck status.

5.      Consideration of a request to purchase a copy machine for the City Office.

6.      Consideration of renewal of Maintenance Agreement between the City of Fairbury and the Nebraska Department of Roads.

7.      Consideration of an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Fairbury and Jefferson County for Maintenance of a K-9 Unit.

8.      Consideration of a request from the Board of Public Works for permission to purchase a pickup truck from C & O Ford.

9.      Consideration of a request from the Board of Public Works for permission to purchase a pickup truck from Wheel-N-Deal Auto Sales.

10. Future meetings to set Fairbury City Council goals.

 

F.     RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES

1.      Resolution No. 675 designating the Economic Development Review Committee to review the current plan for administering LB840 economic development funds and bring any recommendations they may have to the City Council.

2.      Resolution No. 676 prohibiting parking on the east side of A Street between 8th Street & 14th Street and making A Street a through street from 8th Street to 14th Street.
