CITY OF FAIRBURY, NEBRASKA

COUNCIL AGENDA

 

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2008, 7:30 p.m.

 

All agenda items are for discussion and action will be taken as deemed appropriate.  The City Council reserves the right to go into executive session in accordance with Section 84-1410.

 


 

A.     CALL TO ORDER

1.      Pursuant to Section 84-1412(8) of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the entry of this meeting room and is available for viewing by the public.

2.      Roll Call

 

B.    SUBMITTAL OF REQUESTS FOR FUTURE ITEMS

Individuals who have appropriate items for City Council consideration should complete the Request for Future Agenda Items form located near the entrance of the meeting room.  If the issue can be handled administratively without Council action, notification will be provided.  If the item is scheduled for a committee or Council meeting, notification of the date will be given.

 

C.    CONSENT AGENDA

1.      Approval of the minutes of the regular meeting of December 2, 2008.

2.      Approval of claims.

3.      Approval of the November 2008 Reconciliation Report.

4.      Approval of the appointment of Dr.Craig Shumard as City Physician.

5.      Approval of the appointment of Chad Sprunk as Volunteer Fireman.

6.   Approval of the resignation of Ronald Schwab as Deputy City Attorney.

7.   Approval of the appointment of Brooks Bryan, Doug Brown, and Eric Voss to the Health Board.

 

D.    PUBLIC HEARINGS

 

E.     CURRENT BUSINESS

1.      Opening and consideration of bids received for selling the 1966 Model LF2-4229 Snorkel truck for the Fire Department.

2.      Presentation by Connie Schwartz concerning the Fairbury Youth Involvement (FYI) Center and City Council involvement.

3.      Approval of the Mayor’s appointments of the Standing Committees.

4.      Consideration of recommendation from the Public Works Committee of placing no parking signs on the west side of 7th & E Streets.

5.      Approval of the appointment of City Attorney and Deputy City Attorney.

6.      Administer oath of office to the City Attorney and Deputy City Attorney.

7.      Request for authorization for Mayor Ward to sign the Notification of Annual Audit with Nebraska Department of Economic Development.

8.      Consideration of renewal of Maintenance Agreement between the City of Fairbury and the Nebraska Department of Roads.

9.      Request for authorization for Mayor Ward to sign the Standardized System of Annual Reporting form for the Roads & Streets Financial Report for Fiscal Year Ending September 30, 2008.

10. Update on pending litigation.

  

F.     RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES

1.      Resolution No. 709 authorizing the placement of stop signs at the intersection of

4th & F Streets.
